Our Story
Pinguino Surfboards was born from a passion for surfing and a love for craftsmanship. In 2013, in the heart of Tampere, Finland, our founders, Pauli Hakala and Juho Haimakainen, began handcrafting surfboards for themselves. What started as a personal hobby soon transformed into a shared mission: to create custom surfboards that bring joy and performance to surfers everywhere.
At Pinguino Surfboards, every board we make tells a story. Our process is deeply personal and collaborative. We design and shape each board to fit the unique needs of our customers, considering their weight, skill level, style, and the waves they ride. Whether it’s the icy breaks of the Baltic or the warm swells of the Canary Islands, our boards are tailored to enhance the experience.
Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. We use bio-based and recycled materials and strive for minimal environmental impact throughout our production process. For us, respecting nature is just as important as catching the perfect wave.
From our workshop in Tiihala to our second home in Gran Canaria, we combine Finnish precision with a global surf culture. Our boards have found their way to surfers both locally and internationally, and every one of them is a testament to the joy of creating something by hand.
Our motto is simple: if the surf’s up, we surf. That spirit of spontaneity and adventure is what keeps us grounded and fuels our passion for the craft. When you choose a Pinguino board, you're not just getting a surfboard – you're becoming part of a community that values connection, creativity, and the thrill of the ocean.
Pinguino Surfboards is more than just a brand; it’s a movement to bring happiness and a touch of surf culture to Finland and beyond. Wherever the waves may take you, we’re proud to be part of your journey.
